Trip Description

Sri Lanka invites you into a world of calm landscapes, ancient kingdoms, soft green hills, and warm coastal air. This nine-day journey blends comfort, culture, and nature in a quiet and thoughtful way. Each stop has been chosen for its beauty and its story, and every hotel has been selected to offer a peaceful space to rest. From the rock fortress of Sigiriya to the tea valleys of Nuwara Eliya and the wild plains of Yala, this itinerary lets you meet Sri Lanka with softness and depth.

DAY 1 – Colombo to Thirappane

You arrive in Colombo where your private guide welcomes you after immigration. The road to Thirappane opens into wide fields, small lakes, and quiet rural paths. After checking in, the day is free to settle into the calm surroundings of Uga Ulagalla, a boutique retreat set among rice fields and greenery. Dinner and rest in Thirappane.

DAY 2 – Thirappane to Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa to Thirappane

After breakfast you travel to Sigiriya, the great rock fortress rising above the jungle. You climb through old gardens, stone steps, and painted frescoes until the view opens across the plains. Later you continue to Polonnaruwa, an ancient royal capital filled with statues, temples, and ruins scattered through the forest. You return to Thirappane for dinner and rest.

DAY 3 – Visit Thirappane and Anuradhapura

Morning brings you toward Anuradhapura, one of the oldest cities of Sri Lanka. Sacred temples, old stone stupas, and the revered Bodhi Tree stand quietly among the ruins. The area is large, peaceful, and deeply connected to Buddhist tradition. You return to your hotel for a free afternoon to enjoy the property’s activities, pools, or nature walks. Dinner and rest in Thirappane.

DAY 4 – Thirappane to Dambulla to Kandy

After breakfast you drive toward Kandy. On the way you stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple where painted walls and carved Buddhas fill five ancient caves. You continue to Kandy, the last royal capital of the island. The lake, markets, and old streets carry a calm charm. You visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, a deeply spiritual place where devotees offer flowers and light small oil lamps. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.

DAY 5 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

The morning road climbs into the hills toward Nuwara Eliya. Soft mist, cool air, and endless tea gardens shape the landscape. In the afternoon you visit a tea factory to learn how the leaves are processed and prepared. You finish the day at your hotel overlooking the green slopes. Dinner and rest in Nuwara Eliya.

DAY 6 – Nuwara Eliya to Ella to Yala

After breakfast you travel south toward Yala. On the way you visit Ravana Falls, where water rushes down the rocks depending on the season. By afternoon you arrive at Yala and settle into your lodge. Later you join a jeep safari through the national park where elephants, deer, crocodiles, and many birds live freely. With patience you may spot a leopard resting on a rock or walking through the grass. Dinner and rest at Chena Huts.

DAY 7 – Visit Yala National Park

You leave early with a picnic breakfast for a morning safari through the park. The cool light of dawn brings movement across the plains. After returning to the lodge, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy the quiet surroundings, the beach, or the pool. Lunch and dinner included.

DAY 8 – Yala to Galle to Colombo

Morning brings you west along the coast. In Weligama you pause to watch the stilt fishermen balanced above the water on wooden poles. You continue to Galle, walking through the old Dutch fort where narrow streets, ocean views, and colonial buildings give the town its character. By afternoon you reach Colombo for a city tour before settling into Uga Residence, a calm boutique hotel set in a restored 19th-century mansion. Dinner and rest.
