Trip Description

Kerala carries a different rhythm from the north of India. The air feels softer, the landscapes stretch in shades of green, and life moves at a slower pace. Palm trees line the roads, hills open into tea gardens, and calm backwaters reflect the sky with quiet certainty. This journey lets you meet Kerala’s nature up close, from its cool highlands to its warm coast. SkyZeg guides the path in a gentle way so the days flow with ease, ending with peaceful nights next to the long beach of Marari.

DAY 1 – Arrival in Cochin and Visit Cochin

You arrive at Cochin Airport where our local team welcomes you and brings you to the hotel. The city opens with its layered history. You walk through Fort Kochi where Indian, Arab, Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences left their mark. The old synagogue stands with its blue tiles and quiet charm. St Francis Church carries stories from the early colonial period. Along the coastline, the Chinese fishing nets rise and fall with the tide, creating one of Kerala’s most familiar sights. In the evening you watch a Kathakali performance where expressive faces, detailed makeup, and slow precise movements reveal the heart of Kerala’s storytelling tradition. Dinner and rest follow.

DAY 2 – Cochin to Munnar

After breakfast you leave the coast and begin the climb toward Munnar. The air grows cooler as the land rises. Tea gardens stretch across hills in long green patterns, and the landscape feels open and refreshing. Munnar sits at the meeting point of three mountain streams, giving the town its gentle climate. After checking in, the afternoon is yours to rest and take in the quiet of the hills. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3 – Visit Munnar

Morning light falls softly on the tea plantations. You visit a tea factory and museum to understand how the leaves are grown, picked, and prepared. The Mattupetty Dam creates a wide reservoir where birds and animals gather near the water. A little further lies Kundala Lake, surrounded by hills where cherry blossoms appear twice a year. The stillness of the area invites slow walks and easy pauses. You return to your hotel for dinner.

DAY 4 – Munnar to Periyar

After breakfast you drive toward Periyar, where the land shifts into thick forests and wildlife territory. Periyar National Park is home to elephants, sambhar deer, wild boar, and many species of birds. You explore the sanctuary by boat while the water reflects the trees and grasslands around you. The calm movement of the boat offers a peaceful way to experience nature. After the safari you move to your hotel for dinner and rest.

DAY 5 – Periyar to Kumarakom or Alleppey

Your morning begins with a visit to the spice plantations. Kerala has long been known for its cardamom, pepper, cinnamon, and many other spices that shaped trade and cuisine. After exploring the estate you continue toward the backwater region. Kumarakom or Alleppey waits with quiet canals, coconut trees, and the wide stretch of Lake Vembanad. The area feels peaceful and inviting. You settle into your hotel for dinner.

DAY 6 – Kumarakom or Alleppey to Mararikulam

After breakfast you board a traditional houseboat for a slow cruise through the backwaters. You pass small villages, rice fields, and palm-lined waterways where life unfolds at a gentle pace. A warm Kerala lunch is served on board. Later you continue by road toward Mararikulam, a quiet fishing village with soft sand and a long stretch of coastline. You arrive at your resort for dinner and rest.

DAY 7 – Visit Mararikulam

The day is free to enjoy the stillness of Marari Beach. The sound of the waves, the shade of the coconut trees, and the slow rhythm of the village create the perfect setting for rest. Many travellers choose to experience Ayurveda treatments here, using traditional oils and techniques deeply rooted in Kerala’s healing culture. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 8 – Visit Mararikulam

Another free day at the beach. You may rest, walk along the shore, enjoy the resort facilities, or continue your Ayurveda sessions. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 9 – Mararikulam to Cochin

After breakfast you return by road to Cochin Airport. The journey closes with the calm images of Kerala still fresh in your mind.
